Plug-and-Play GUI Layer for Legacy Dental System

Product Overview

Client’s goals

The customer wanted to make their platform more intuitive and user-friendly so that dental professionals could do their jobs more easily, and there would be less friction during use. They aimed to foster better customer loyalty, simplify the learning process for prospective clients, and lay the groundwork for expansion in both domestic and international markets. It was also important to satisfy the evolving needs of clinics that work outside of traditional office settings by expanding support for mobile access.

Implementation

The project began with a comprehensive discovery and analysis phase. Jelvix examined the limitations of the client’s outdated system, gathering detailed feedback from end users to identify day-to-day challenges, procedural inefficiencies, and location-specific requirements. Special attention was paid to accessibility issues impacting onboarding and overall user satisfaction.

During the design and prototyping phase, the team focused on building a modular, flexible interface adaptable to various clinic models and local compliance standards. User experience enhancements and configuration flexibility were prioritized to ensure the new UI could accommodate real-world dental workflows. Interface controls and layouts were restructured to align with how dentists and staff operate in practice.

In the development stage, Jelvix introduced a new front-end layer powered by APIs to run on top of the legacy backend system. This approach preserved backend stability while accelerating deployment of the new interface. The updated GUI enabled mobile responsiveness and localization support, unlocking expansion opportunities in regions such as Canada and the EU.

The solution was tested in live clinical environments to validate functionality, UX flow, and adaptability. Feedback loops were established to support continuous improvement with a focus on usability, accessibility, and configurability. Following successful trials, the platform was rolled out in phases, supported by targeted staff training and ongoing technical assistance to ensure smooth adoption.

Value Delivered

The implemented solution strengthened the product’s market position by addressing long-standing UX issues without modifying the stable backend. User satisfaction rose significantly, and client retention improved due to enhanced usability and expanded customization capabilities. The modular interface was tailored to align with actual clinical workflows, making it intuitive and efficient for end users.

The updated platform enabled new monetization opportunities and supported expansion into regulated markets by offering white-labeled and region-specific UI versions. With a mobile-first responsive design, the platform matched the evolving workflows of dental professionals. Simplified user interactions accelerated onboarding and reduced support load. The flexible front-end architecture now supports ongoing feature delivery and scalable growth.

The platform successfully expanded into three additional geographic regions, including Canada and the EU, thanks to user interface adjustments tailored to each market. Mobile usage picked up quickly, hitting 47% in the first four months after the launch.
